The NFL regular season consists of 272 games. Each of the 32 NFL teams plays 17 games over 18 weeks, with one bye week. This year’s regular season starts on Thursday, September 5, with the Kansas City Chiefs playing against the Baltimore Ravens.
NFL’s 32 teams are divided into two conferences – the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC). Each conference of 16 teams is further divided into four divisions-East, North, South, and West-with four teams in each division. Each of them plays 17 games alternating seasons hosting nine regular-season games and one preseason game or eight regular and two preseason games.
