A tight end is an offensive player in American football. Their duties involve blocking for the running backs and the quarterback. The position of a tight end is a combined role of the offensive lineman and a receiver. They are usually positioned on the offensive line.

The tight end’s ultimate position and role, whether they play inside the flanks (tight) or spread wide, is a strategic decision made by the head coach based on the team’s dynamics and needs. Their dominance in the game, characterized by their strength and size, makes them competent blockers and effective receivers.
